Easy -Step to Step Boba Tea Recipe

What do us busy mama’s hate the most? YES!… waiting in long lines while we try to make the most of our day and also try to sneak in our favorite food and drinks. Well this easy recipe will help you skip those crowded boba shops while customizing your Milk Tea Boba Drink. Once I got a hang of this recepie which is so easy to make,  I have not gone back and I am sure you wont either.

Lets Start with a little history of Boba tea . Where was it orginated you ask ? In 2017, Tiger Sugar : a Taiwanese Boba Shop opened with its signature brown sugar boba milk drink. Ofcourse he was not the one who invented this drink he was definately responsible to make it famous in this modern western culture.

WHAT IS BOBA TEA?

This flavorful tea consists of three main ingredients  : Milk , Tea , Brown Sugar and Boba or Tapioca Pearls. These simple ingredients together make this easy drink to make a masterpiece. Ofcourse little details like the brown sugar along the side of the cup gives sweetness , the milk adds the creamy texture overall making it a refreshing drink.

Can You Make This Drink At Home ?

The answer is a  simple YES!

Lets Start !

INGREDIENTS FOR THIS RECIPE
  •  Tea: The right tea can make or break this recipe. If you use a bare quality tea you will have low-quality taste. Strong  teas are the best choice because their flavor will stand out . My all time favorite recomendation is
Ceylon Premium OP Black Tea (Click)
  • Brown Sugar : This Ingredient adds sweetness to the boba pearls . The best way to properly glaze the pearls is to steep the boba pearls in this brown sugar syrup for about 25 minutes . Saving a teaspoon of this syrup to glaze the cup will also sweeten the entire drink. However the amount of syrup to add will depend on your personal preference. You can add more or less syrup based on taste. Add ½ cup dark brown sugar , my recommendation is
    WHOLESOME SWEETENERS, DarkBrown Sugar

½ cup granulated sugar and ½ cup boiling water.

  • Boba or Tapioca Pearls: I have tried so many pearls to get the best texture without the bouncy chewy feel that does not hold on to the brown sugar like the traditional pearls would. My personal favorite here after a lot of trial and errors would be
    WuFuYuan – Tapioca Pearl Black

These pearls are ready in 5 minutes and have a sugar flavor if you decide to completly skip on the brown sugar bath for them.

  •  Brown Sugar Caramel Syrup: This syrup will add a   sticky sweet caramel thick texture on the side of the glass.Ingredients:Pure Cane Sugar, Water, Natural Flavours, Caramel Colour, Citric Acid.

    Torani Puremade Caramel Syrup

  • Milk of choice: Ocourse dairy milk is the best bet to add that creaminess. You can substitute this with whatever milk you prefer (i.e. oat milk, almond milk, soy milk, etc.)

📝 Lets Make This Recipe

  1.  Brew or steep the tea : Use a saucepan to heat your choice of milk , add the brown sugar as preference and let it simmer. Turn off the heat and add the blak tea leaves and let it steep for 20 minutes. Strain the leaves and pour into a large bowl and regrigerate until cold.
  2. Time to cook pearls. Same saucepan, cook the boba following the instructions on the packaging. Pour the boba in and mix until the boba floats to the top. Reduce to medium heat and simmer with the lid. Turn off the heat and let the boba sit in the saucepan before draining.
  3. Boba bath. In a seperate bowl, mix hot water, ½ cup dark brown sugar and ½ cup granulated sugar and add the pearls in. This will allow the sugar to seep through the boba.

 Time to Shine !

Line the outside of the cup with the caramel syrup to create the “tiger stripes”, ofcourse the details matter and so does the packaging. My favorite

Reusable Boba Cup :

Wide Mouth Glass Cups with Bamboo Lids with Straw . The lid is perfect to sip on at home or to take it on the go for us busy moms.

HEFBCOMK 2 Pack

Now for the finale add:

  • Boba Pearls
  • Ice
  • Milk (of choice) steeped with tea
  •  1-2 tablespoon of the brown sugar boba bath to sweeten the taste and enjoy!

Please note boba will not have a longer shelf life of more then 4 hours and must be consumed immediately when they are cooked. Rest of the tea can be saved in an air tight jar upto 3-4 days.
